Experimental Film Selections

My First Year on Youtube...Who I Am! - Anthony LiPani (6:22) This Project displays the journey on the road to becoming a successful Content creator. The up’s and downs. The in’s and outs. The learning process was long, difficult, fun and exciting and I would do it all over again if I had to. This is my story.


The Quickening - Composer Marliana Donato (a.k.a. WillowWynd)(5:06)A musical glimpse into the mysterious and magical portal between artist and Muse and the unseen forces that not only give life to art but give life to us.


Crazy, Man - Joe Ferry (7:52)"Crazy, Man" is Dr. Joe Ferry's experimental video project for which he wrote and produced the musical score before filming the short film. The title for "Crazy, Man" was gleaned from someone out of Joe's distant past... a hippie who lived next door to Joe, his reply to everything was "That's crazy, man." The project is a combo of footage shot with cell phone cameras by Joe & crew as well as Royalty Free footage by Edison and others. Corey Glover of Living Colour and rapper Will Urbane are featured vocalists. The music is performed by Big Ska.


Storm - Matt King (5:19) A vignette set to the evocative music of Matthew Gerard King.


Avant Gardener - Lindsey Katt (36:00)Distinguishing itself through innovative format, and raw emotion, this "FilmTrack" to Lindsay Katt's new Musical Record "The Avant-Gardener" is tackling new ground on the frontier of artistic visual storytelling/Experimental Film. Captured through the lens of ten interlocking musical vignettes, we follow the story of a young Artist’s life, through the trials and challenges of self discovery.


THE NEIGHBORS' WINDOW Marshall Curry (20:00) The Neighbors' Window tells the story of Alli (Maria Dizzia), a mother of young children who has grown frustrated with her daily routine and husband (Greg Keller). But her life is shaken up when two free-spirited twenty-somethings move in across the street and she discovers that she can see into their apartment. Inspired by a true story, the film was written and directed by three-time Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker, Marshall Curry. Starring Tony-nominated Maria Dizzia (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, 13 REASONS WHY, WHILE WE'RE YOUNG); Greg Keller (LAW & ORDER); and Juliana Canfield (SUCCESSION

A girl begins a journey to find happiness and adventure. She finds a love that allows two young people to mature through loss and have the opportunity to support each other when devastation strikes. The journey is exciting, sad, and beautiful.


In the House of Paper Flowers - Anita George (7:30) In a house covered with papery flowers, a woman with white hair, two cats and a tiny wolf songstress learns a valuable lesson about the enduring power of love.In


DINGMANS FERRY AMERICANA - Dennis Lee ( 54:52) This film is a look back to Americana in Dingmans Ferry back in the day . Q&A with local filmaker Dennis Lee


THE BEST OF JOHN DILEO- 20 Years of BBFF Salon Presentations From his annual celebrations of our cinematic past, author/critic/historian John DiLeo creates a medley of audience-favorite film clips showcasing Hollywood’s Golden Age with a cast of legends including Bette Davis, Cary Grant, Vivien Leigh, Fred Astaire, both Hepburns, and many more, featured in a mix of overlooked gems, career-high performances, musical numbers, potent drama, laughs and romance, even a few irresistible bloopers.


Social Issues Film Selections

The Tragic Irony of Meleanie Hain - Brian Kreider (21:00) This documentary tells the story of Meleanie Hain, a mother of three, who became a voice of the gun-rights movement when she openly carried a loaded pistol to her daughter's soccer game. She was fatally shot by her husband, a parole officer and former prison guard, in an apparent murder-suicide at their home.


Found in Korea - Nam Holtz ( 1:14) A Korean adoptee travels back to Korea for the first time in 35 years in search of her birth parents and the world she lost as a baby. While retracing the steps of her own adoption, she discovers her culture, identity and questions why Koreans are not adopting their own.

The story follows Darby Dixon (Matarazzo), a nurse who finds herself in trouble with the law, is subsequently sentenced to 30 days of house arrest and is legally confined to the same house she once shared with her ex-boyfriend who now shares it with his beautiful new fiancée.


ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES FILM SELECTIONS

A Living River - John Bowermaster (23:18) A Living River is a new short film from National Geographic Filmmaker Jon Bowermaster about the work of Riverkeeper, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and others to restore the life and the ecosystem in the Hudson River.Learn more at https://www.riverkeeper.org/a-living



Won't Pipe Down - Abigail Riggleman (23:12)“Won’t Pipe Down” is a short documentary presenting the definitive David versus Goliath battle between the residents of Nelson County, Virginia and the Dominion Power company. This inside look at the community and their fight against the Atlantic Coast Pipeline raises questions about environmental justice, property rights, and individual rights


The River Raisin Legacy Project - Brian Egen ( 11:31)The City of Monroe, Michigan, Commission on the Environment and Water Quality's (COTE) mini documentary film, details the extensive remediation cleanup work, habitat restoration and recreational enhancements that have taken place in the River Raisin over the past two decades. Filmed over the course of 2018, the eleven-minute video documents the recent work on the River Raisin to delist it as an Area of Concern (AOC), which includes removal of dams, installation of fish passages, and re-invigoration of the natural environment.


BEE DANCE: Steps to a New Future in Beekeeping - Petrusia Kotlar ( 35:13) Bee Dance is a short documentary which addresses the global honeybee decline. Chapters are introduced via the honeybees’ unique dance language communicating the importance of education, research, medicine (apitherapy) and sustainable practices as the vital components related to the future success in beekeeping. The film compares relatively young beekeeping practices in the United States with those in Ukraine which evolved over thousands of years. It highlights the rich cultural and spiritual applications to the preservation of this species.

The Tides that Bind - Nick Nataliccio ( 22:01) People have been sending messages in bottles for hundreds of years, in search of everything from romance to scientific data. Daddy Can You Dance? ( Parkinson's) Alicia Albares ( 26:21) Joaquín is a Parkinson's patient who, thanks to his daughter Sara, will discover that swing dancing can significantly improve his quality of life. But Parkinson's will not make it easy for them.


Sheltering Love - Dawn Green ( 10:00)A tenacious daughter confronts the challenge of her life when she becomes a caregiver to her mother, Love, who has Alzheimer’s disease. Frustrated with the limitations of the healthcare system in the United States, Dawn travels to Love’s home country of Norway in search of a better way to care for people with dementia. Inspired by the Norwegian mandate to build a universal Dementia Friendly Society, Dawn starts a similar initiative in her hometown in New Jersey.


Rainbow Ending - Alan & Wendy Kaplan ( 33:00) Rainbow Ending is a tribute to an organization called Triversity (formerly the Upper Delaware GLBT) shot over a 7 year period from the perspective of the teens and adults who have benefitted from the total support of an organization “making it better now”.  The isolation outlined in personal testimonials that come from “coming out” is offset by “you are not alone”. An organization that provides support groups, activities, programs, and spectacular events including PRIDE is honored in the words and of those who have been and continue to be part of Triversity.


Pioneers in Skirts - Ashley Maria (59:09) Pioneers in Skirts is an entertaining examination of gender parity in the workplace from the perspective of a female filmmaker who was frustrated with her own problems in the film industry. Not finding many answers within her profession, she decides to expand her search to include other industries and society in general. For 4 years, she traveled the U.S. to investigate solutions: speaking to fellow pioneering women and girls and interviewing topic experts. By the end of her journey she finds out how we ALL can address the stereotyping and sexism that can chip away at a woman, hurt her potential, and make her feel like she must re-think her dreams.


OCTOBER is Domestic Abuse Awareness Month - Safe Haven and VIP Sponsored Event

Shelter - Aimee Morgan ( 9:34) Two young girls are left on their own far from home while their mother tries to break ties with her abusive boyfriend. Sisters Kate and Audrey must learn to take care of themselves when their mother doesn't return.

I am Evidence - Mariska Hargitay ( Producer) ( 1:29) This documentary examines the fact that thousands of rape kits in the United States go untested each year, and looks at efforts to combat this injustice. Produced by Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) and directed by Geeta Gandbhir and Trish Adlesic.
