Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for an evening under the stars as food and activities will be available for this family friendly fun event. Come out and enjoy some great Delta eats and live country music that will take you back in time. You will be entertained and educated in Mississippi's Country Music history that was developed in and around the Delta. More evidence to the fact that Mississippi is the birthplace of America's Music.

Rightfully, the infamous Tallahatchie Bridge is the site location for the Mississippi Country Music Trail marker dedicated to the female country vocalist Bobbie Gentry. Just a couple of miles from the river bank one can find the illustrious, authentic sharecropper houses Tallahatchie Flats. The location functions as a historic symbol of country life in the Delta; as it will come alive on the evening of June 3, 2016, when the Greenwood Convention and Visitors Bureau presents A Night in the Country at Tallahatchie Flats: A Journey Down the Mississippi Country Music Trail. This event features a variety of live renditions that takes one down the journey of the Mississippi Country Music Trail one tune at a time.

On June 3, 2016, we opt to celebrate the country life in the Delta. The event is themed after Delta native Bobbie Gentry’s coined phrase, "The third of June, another sleepy, dusty Delta day;" an expression performed in her classic song “Ode to Billy Joe.” Thus, the significance of having this event on the 49th anniversary of the classic songs’ release date.

The Silver Eagle Band, a nine piece Country Music stage band consisting of a fiddle, steel guitar, lead guitar, piano, bass and drums, background singers with emcee Country Jack, and announcer James Poe of WABG AM radio will host at least 8 singers from all around the State of Mississippi. We will journey through 17 of the 30 Country Music Trail Markers in the Magnolia State in story and in song; in what will be the biggest country music package show many have ever seen.
