Last year's STEM - LEGO night was a HUGE success with over 125 kid competing for awards by completing LEGO projects under the watchful eye of our awesome Moorestown High School FRC Robotics Team "The Combustible Lemons!"  This year, we have worked hard to make the event less crowded, more fun and family friendly.  The event will begin earlier to accommodate our younger engineers and the concession stand will include dinner options for the whole family. There will be games, LEGO robotics demonstrations, STEM opportunities for kids, face painting and more! Buy tickets* and t-shirts here. Parents get in FREE!

Schedule:  4:45 to 5:30pm Registration
                5:30 to 6:00pm Kindergarten to 2nd grade build session - non-competitive
                6:00 to 6:15pm K-2 Young Engineers Parade
                6:15 to 6:45pm 3rd to 6th grade LEGO Competition
                6:45 to 7:15pm Judging
                7:15 to 7:30pm Awards

*Kids who would like to bring advanced LEGO kits that include lights, batteries, or electricity should purchase an "Advanced Ticket" and compete only in that category.

More information for new participants:

Kids should arrive with a bucket or large container of loose Legos so they have lots of choices when the competition begins.  Each grade will be given a specific task.  For example, "build a flying vehicle."  Tasks are kept secret until the event so that kids can not work on them at home.  Grades K - 2 are non-competitive.  Parents may sit with their child and help.  There will be a K-2 parade of finished projects from 6 to 6:15 ending in the gym where there will be free face painting and robotics demonstrations.  Pizza and snacks will be for sale to benefit the high school robotics team. Cash only.

At 6:15, grades 3 to 6 will compete in more complicated tasks.  They will be given 5 minutes to draw their idea (paper and pens will be provided) and then 20 minutes to construct their finished project.  Members of the high school robotics team will judge finished projects and award prizes in several categories per grade as well as best overall Young Engineers Award.  The purpose of the evening is to introduce young children to the engineering process and to robotics.  Representatives from our local Moorestown Robotics Club will be on hand to discuss joining a Lego Robotics Team and there will be music, food and fun!
